Variety Bash SA - Car 222:  The Precocious Penguins
The team members of Car 222 were delighted to receive lots
of favourable feedback from the guests who attended our
night at the Tennis at Memorial Drive.

The
Lions Club of Mitcham did a splendid job of providing the
food and beverages for the dinner and auctioneer,
Jo
Lawless from Creative Real Estate
, handled the
temperamental microphone and the difficult circumstances
with style and we thank her most sincerely.

Despite the heat of a 39 degree day, the dense shade of the
Moreton Bay fig trees and the breeze across the River
Torrens, made the dinner a very pleasant experience.

Memorial Drive Upgraded Courts
The Memorial Drive Tennis Centre has upgraded Centre court
with four plexi-cushion courts and the spectators loved the
new surface and colour.

Fantastic Seating Allocation
Our seating allocation was perfect and the intimacy of
Memorial Drive meant that this is the best way to see the
tennis, unlike other sports which are better on TV.

The interesting concept of holding 2 matches simultaneously
on courts 1 and 3 worked well for the spectators and we were
treated to quarter final matches;  one with home town favourite
Lleyton Hewitt who struggled against the eventual Australian
Open Runner Up, Frenchman,
Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and a
thrilling 3 set match which lasted 3 hours, with scores
absolutely even and only decided
by the last 2 tie breaker points.

Guest Speakers
Mark Woodforde and 2 young tennis players gave us a great
incite into wheelchair tennis, and Darren Cahill gave an
enthusiastic overview of the exciting event to be held at
Memorial Drive in 2009.

We will be there again!  WATCH THIS SITE!
Wow, what a night!
Another huge success for Car 222.
